Artist / Adventurer
Nicole Ruuska is considered among her peers as a growing power of artistic expression, vividly blossoming into the contemporary art world. Her powerful artistic expression is devotedly tempered with the deepest joy, respect and love of all living things. She masterfully communicates these sentiments throughout her wildlife paintings.
Nicole, a self-taught artist, grew up along the shores of Lake Superior in Thunder Bay, Ontario, Canada. The incredible beauty of the abundant woodlands, lakes and wildlife fueled her passion for drawing at an early age. She spent countless hours observing and sketching this rich habitat. Captivated by natures graces her passion evolved from drawing to painting.
Nicole now resides in southwest British Columbia. When she is not painting, Nicole enjoys her other passions: working as a full-time Flight Attendant for West Jet Airlines and going on adventures in the majestic mountains. Here she loves to photograph the scenery and abundant wildlife in the surrounding area. The inspiration for her expressive paintings come from these experiences. Spending time in the natural world below or high in the heavens is "food for her soul".
Nicole's fine wildlife art is collected and appreciated internationally. She has been featured five times in "Birds and Blooms" magazine, featured in "More of Our Canada" magazine along with numerous newspaper articles that have gained her recognition throughout North America and abroad. Nicole has also been awarded by Art Challenge.com the "Award of Merit" for her portrait painting of "Sarah the Golden Eagle" and has won the "WestJet Art Show and Gala", 2 years in a row for "Best Painting" voted by her peers. Currently you can see some of Nicole's art at the Abbotsford Art Gallery in Abbotsford, BC.
